(x) The Order of the Holy Annunciation 'Piccolo Collare' Bestowed Upon Prince Arthur of Connaught
Italy, Kingdom, Order of the Holy Annunciation, Grand Cross set of Insignia, by Cravanzola, Rome, Collar chain, comprising twenty-one alternating medallions of Savoyan knots and motto of the order, within a rose border, 495mm, with Badge Appendant, 65mm x 47mm, gold; Star, 82mm, gold, silver-gilt and enamel, maker's cartouche to reverse, the dove and ray slightly loose on appendant, extremely fine and rare, together with a later leather case and presentation case (2)

Prince Arthur of Connaught K.G.,K.T.,G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., C.B., (1883-1938), born at Windsor Castle, the son of the Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, himself the third son of Queen Victoria; educated at Eton, the first Royal Prince to do so; commissioned, 7th Hussars, 1901; appointed Aide-de-Camp to Generals French and Haig during the Great War; served as Governor-General of South Africa, 1920-24; died, aged 55, 12.9.1938.
