a) Military Cross, G.V.R., the reverse contemporarily engraved 'Lt. G.L.T. Eaton. 1st South Staffs.', with case of issue
b) British War and Victory Medals (Lieut. G.L.T. Eaton)
c) Defence and War Medals, good very fine, together with the related miniature awards, these with a 1914-15 Star in addition, two portrait and one group photograph of the recipient, the recipient's service book and a South Staffordshire Regiment cap badge and lapel insignia (5)

'For distinguished service in connection with Military Operations in Italy.'
Major Godfrey Lewis Trevor Eaton, M.C., born October 1897; a student residing at 20 Lansdowne Crescent, Notting Hill at the commencement of hostilities; commissioned Second Lieutenant, South Staffordshire Regiment, 13.7.1916; served with the 1st Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front from 6.9.1916; promoted Lieutenant, 6.1.1918; listed as serving as Lieutenant with the 22nd Battalion Manchester Regiment upon his Medal Index Card; the Commanding Officer's statement in his service book notes 'A very fine type of Officer. Displayed great gallantry and leadership in the Battle of Piave Oct. 1918. Is worthy of every trust. W.R. English-Murphy, Lt. Col. Cmdg. 1st South Staffordshire'; relinquished commission, 5.8.1920; between the Wars was a teacher by profession; commissioned Lieutenant, King's Royal Rifle Corps, 30.8.1940; transferred Pioneer Corps, promoted Major, 20.2.1942, becoming the Second-in- Command of the Army Fire Fighting Training Centre; died, 1977, with a copied quote from a memorial stating 'No man I have been privileged to know had a greater sense of fairness, nor a more generous and helpful nature to those struggling to learn. No one was prouder of being British in its most desirable way. Hundreds of us are poorer for his going, as hundreds have been the richer for his help.'
