Hellrigl #12, a, 1889-98 2a Violet, later printings on native paper of good quality, imperforate, complete sheet of 64, setting 9, unused without gum as issued, untrimmed extra-large sheet margins all around showing the full framelines, this setting now contains ten inverted cliches (each marked in petite ms.), lacking position 22 which separates this from all other settings with this combination, in addition a second feature that starts with this setting through setting 12 is the most dramatic plate flaw of the "ragged cliche" in position 4, a total of only about fifteen copies from all settings are known and is one of the great classic rarities, clear violet color on paper that is becoming inferior with natural irregularities, this being one of the last printings of this period, two vert. and three horiz. folds, all between rows, very fine for this extremely rare sheet; this is the only known imperforate sheet known (see the next lot for the only known pin-perforated sheet of this same setting); (Scott #8, a; $3,650.00+; S.G. #11; a; £3,004+).
