British Commonwealth fabulous King George VI nearly complete mint collection housed in two Stanley Gibbons New Age albums, which has spaces for nearly all the different perforations of the period, plus the collection is comprised of not just the straight stamps listed in Scott, but also many that are only listed by Stanley Gibbons and some that are listed only in Murray Payne's Commonwealth King George VI Catalog, these being mainly shades, printings, paper and other varieties, the collection is headed by a 1933 ALS by the future King signed as Duke of York, then nearly all the spaces are filled, with the exception of most Japanese occupation overprints, the varieties mounted and annotated alongside, Bermuda includes most of the Gibbons listed shades, the good 12/6 with BPA certificate, Burma includes the scarce 1937 George V overprinted set as well as the corresponding Officials, Cyprus includes the elusive 1944 1pi perf. 13½x12½ n.h., Grenade includes the scarce 10/- perf. 12, India includes nearly all the issues for the States, Malaya is complete including the scarce Kelantan set, New Zealand includes the "35/-" overprint on 35/- Postal Fiscals, as well as the four 1940 surcharges, the 1939 North Borneo set is here n.h., Samoa includes the 1945-50 Arms set, etc, but this is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the numerous goodies to be found and are noted just to indicate the overall power of the collection, the condition is excellent as virtually all are o.g., l.h. or n.h., fine-very fine, the stamps in mounts being never hinged unless noted, with only a couple used stamps present, the consignor, a meticulous and knowledgeable collector has carefully cataloged the collection by both Gibbons and Scott, the total 2014 Gibbons catalog value being £85,465 and the 2015 Scott catalog value $71,375, but of course that omits numerous varieties; this collection presents an excellent opportunity to acquire a nearly complete mint collection of this ever popular reign.
