British Commonwealth extensive and valuable principally used collection to 1936 housed in two Stanley Gibbons New Imperial albums,, which are specifically designed for the British Commonwealth having spaces for each country's stamps on the right page, with illustrations and descriptions on the left facing page, and only cover the issues to 1936, the collection commences with Great Britain proper, with extensive line-engraved and surface printed issues, Edward VII and George V, but no postage dues or officials, then on to the colonies where the pages are often very well filled, with some mint stamps filling in some spaces, including numerous better Victoria and Edward issues, including high values and many desirable George V complete sets, noteworthy is Australia with good Kangaroos to £2, Bermuda with three Victoria 1d surcharges, the 1937 Burma set, Canada with a complete set of the Jubilee issue, Cape of Good Hope with both "woodblocks" and Mafeking overprints, good early Ceylon, nice Falkland Is. to £1, Hong Kong nearly complete including 1874 4c perf. 12½, 1903 Edward set cplt., 1904-11 Edward set to $5.00 and all the George V issues, strong New Zealand including postal fiscals, Rhodesia with double heads to £1, and a great deal more in the way of better stamps, including a surprising number of high values, plus a good many varieties, the, the overall condition is much nicer than typically found, while there are some small faults here and there, especially among the 19th century the great majority are fine-very fine and generally neatly cancelled, the owner, a meticulous and knowledgeable philatelist, has carefully and conservatively tabulated the catalog values based on both Gibbons and Scott, not counting things like faulty classics and carefully noting fiscal cancels, discounting them to 10% of catalog value, for a total 2014 Gibbons value of £272,180 and a 2015 Scott catalog value of $307,255; experienced British Commonwealth collectors will recognize the difficulty of finding used stamps, especially for the smaller colonies, making this an ideal opportunity of acquire a collection that is well suited for continuation.
