#1, 1900 1d Pale green, well centered vertical pair tied to cover from Georgetown to Kingston, Jamaica and re-addressed back to Grand Cayman, with "Georgetown/No 15, 00/Cayman Islands" double circle c.d.s. (with day slug inverted), Kingston November 19, 1900 backstamp and Grand Cayman December 12 arrival c.d.s., very fine; the earliest recorded usage of any Cayman Islands stamps, and pre-dates the official release date of 20 November by five days, this cover also represents the only known use of a Cayman "Victoria" issue stamps during that monarch's lifetime; a marvelous exhibition cover; 1995 BPA certificate; illustrated in Giraldi & McCann; where it sold for $2,800 hammer in 1995 (S.G. #1a).
