<Fabulous old-time mint and used nineteenth century collection, housed in deluxe padded Elbe album with dust case, this collection contains well over 1,000 singles with multiple examples of many values, plus nearly 150 multiples ranging from pairs and strips to blocks of up to 25, most are used but includes some unused and even some original gum examples of early issues, conservatively counting only truly unused, later issues from the late Bank Notes through the 1902-03 Regular issue have many more mint singles and blocks, the collection starts with two used of each of the 1847 Issue plus a pair of the 5c Red brown, the 1851 Issue is well represented with over 30 1c Blue singles, an unused left sheet margin block of eight of #11, two #12s, a dozen 10c singles including one type IV plus a strip of three of #14, the 1857 issue is even more extensive with over 75 singles including all values plus blocks and pairs with a number of #25s plus better high values including a 90c Blue with part o.g. and a 90c Reprint with repaired corner (#47), there are over 150 singles of the Civil War issues plus pairs and strips including shades, the 1867-68 Grilled issues are equally impressive with over 100 grilled stamps including pairs and strips of three starting with two 3c all over "A" grills and two 3c "C" grills, most of the rest are the production "E" and "F" grills including many high values with two each of the 24c and 90c values plus five examples of the 30c Orange, the 1869 Pictorials are extensively collected both mint and use with over 200 singles and another thirteen pairs, strips and blocks, numerous examples are present of each value including seven used 90c Carmine and black plus 1c and 2c Re-issues, the comprehensive Bank Notes start with eighteen grilled issues to the 90c value including eleven "I" grills, Small Bank Notes are virtually complete both mint and used including the 90c high value, Columbians are complete mint or unused including extra values as well as thirteen blocks, used include all values except the $3.00 and $4.00 values, there is also a good representation of all the Bureau issues, Trans-Mississippis are complete mint including values to the 5c in blocks as well as used complete to the $1.00, the 1902-03 issue is the only twentieth century period set in the collection and is complete mint or used plus blocks and other multiples, and finally a small collection of Postmaster Provisionals and carriers including reprints, condition varies as would be expected in a collection of this scope and period, typical 19th century faults are present but there is a lot of sound material, centering on early issues is quite varied as usual, most early unused are without gum or with disturbed gum from hinging, later mint mostly has o.g. with even a very few n.h within blocks; this collection is an absolute must for examination as there is over $300,000.00 in Scott catalog value and only examination will reveal the substantial value that is here.
