1900 (6 May) Soldier's unstamped envelope to Bedford, marked "N.B No Stamps available" and showing a fine strike of the "lokoja/post office" oval datestamp (Sacher Type 13) alongside "T" and "2D/620" tax marks , Forcados River (12.5) and Bedford (8.6) c.d.s. on reverse; a few tears through opening, otherwise a fine West African Frontier Force cover from the Kaduna Expedition. Note: This cover is likely to have been from the Kaduna Expedition led by Col. Morland who headed the survey to look for a new Government Headquarters site from February to May 1900. The letter travelled down the Niger River in one of .the Niger Company's boats to meet the ocean going ships at port at Forcados
