1900 (20 Mar.) unstamped envelope from Lt. W.R. Marshall of "C" Company to Hamilton, marked "at Bloemfontein 19th. Brigade no stamps obtainable" and showing F.P.O. c.d.s. and oval-framed "canadian contingent/south africa" datestamp in red, London Paid (6.4) and arrival (16.4) c.d.s., all on face, Hamilton c.d.s. (16.4) on reverse, and 1900 (12 Apr.) G.B. 1d. letter card from G.R. Eakins of "C" Company at Bloemfontein to Toronto, cancelled by light F.P.O. c.d.s. and with fine oval-framed "canadian contingent/south africa" datestamp (18.4) in red; contents include "they say that the ship with our last mail went down", a reference to the sinking of the S.S. Mexican
