1638 Magni Mogolis Imperium, by Willem Blaeu; 25 x 20¼ inches, old coloured.
An attractive map of northern part of India, Tibet, Iran to Burma from "Novus Atlas" (Amsterdam) . The travel route from Kabul to Surat is the most prominent feature of the map. Richly decorated with strapwork title and scale of miles cartouches, a dedication with coat of arms, several sailing ships, along with elephants and camels in the interior. In the lower left hand corner is the coat of arms of D. Johannes Hvydekoper one of the directors of the Dutch East India Company. The reverse with the text De Groote Mogol in Dutch.
Small splits in the margin at top and foot and some slight wrinkling. On stout paper and fresh. Photo
