1819 (14 June) a long entire letter from P.T. Lemaitre in Rome to Mrs Starling in Golden Square in London. A long and detailed letter relates to his travels between Naples and Rome with graphic details of the dangers of robbery and murder. On route, they visited Mount Vesuvius where the current of lava was flowing within a yard of their feet. With typed transcription. Rated at "1/11" the cover bears a fine strike of "FPO" arrival c.d.s. (3.7). Creased and soiled, nevertheless a very interesting letter
