Captain John Yule
1820 (16 Oct.) a bifolium document appointing attorneys of the Court of Common Pleas at Westminster in an action for debt of £300 "borrowd". Signed twice once following a long manuscript note on the inside. In this document he is described as "of Branscombe in the County of Devon, a Captain in his Majesty's Navy". Photo

John Yule, 4th Lieutenant in the Victory at Trafalgar, one of the carriers of the bannerolls of lineage at Nelson's funeral and features in the "Death of Nelson" by Devis. Yule was promoted to Captain after Trafalgar and had served at the Battle of the Nile prior to joining the Victory in 1805. He retired in 1835 and died in 1840. There is a grade II listed house in Branscombe which was originally named "Trafalgar" and was built by Captain Yule
