Charles II (1660-85), Crown, 1681, carolvs. ii. - dei. gratia, fourth laureate and draped bust right, with older features, hair ties both straight, elephant and castle below, rev. inverted die axis, mag. br. fra. et. hib. rex., four crowned shields cruciform, the shields of England and France separate, six strings to Irish harp, interlinked Cs in angles, Garter Star in centre, edge with upright raised letters, .+ decvs. et. tvtamen. anno. .. regni. tricesimo. tertio +.. (ESC 63 - R4; MCE 690 - VR; S.3360), slight adjustment marks by French shield, some scattered light marks, otherwise very fine, old grey tone, very rare, the only Crown of Charles II with the elephant and castle
