Charles I (1625-49), Exeter, Crown, 26.87g, 1645, i.m. castle / rose, :carolvs: d:g: mag: bri: fra: et: hi: rex:, king on horseback left, holding upright sword in right hand, rev. christo. avspice. regno., oval garnished shield (Besley D18; Brooker 1039 same dies; N.2559; S.3060), some double striking, particularly on the king's body, slightly off centre, good very fine and exceptional for this very rare variety
