Straits Settlements Stamps on Mail from Siam
1873 (9 Jan.) entire from Malherbe Jullieur & Co. Bangkok, sent via their forwarding agents in Singapore to Hong Kong, bearing Straits Settlements 1868 6c. bright violet tied oval A.L. Johnston & Co. cachet and cancelled by circle of bars, showing fine "singapore/paid" c.d.s. (15.1) in red alongside, manuscript "4" applied on arrival and, on reverse, clear arrival datestamp (5.2). The face panel is marked "Fr" (franked or paid) in manuscript at lower left which rather confirms that the adhesive was put on in Bangkok. An extremely rare usage from Bangkok.
