Aethelred II (978-1016), Penny, 1.46g, Helmet type, London, Leofwine, helmeted, radiate and armoured bust left, rev. +leofpne m.o lvnd, voided long cross over quadrilateral with a trefoil of pellets to cusps, extra pellets in two quarters (N.775; S.1152), pecks, some weakness to bust, probably straightened as flan crack at 10 o'clock, otherwise this piece with appeal and the surfaces particularly pleasing, gentle tone and areas of sharpness, good very fine
