Harold I (1035-40), Penny, 1.10g, Fleur-de-lis type, Chester, Sweartinc, armoured and diademed bust left, sceptre before, rev. +spertinc on leh:, voided long cross arms extending from central pellet within an annulet, slipped trefoil in each angle (SCBI 40 Stockholm, No 775 - same dies; N.804; S.1164), flan split near 1 o'clock and with single peck to bust, some patchy patination on this, mostly well struck and with good surfaces on obverse, light underlying tone, good very fine

This unusual obverse die which omits the strokes of hair beneath the diadem was also paired with a reverse die which reads SPERTINC ON LEIC, c.f. SCBI 18 Copenhagen, No 195.
