Elizabeth I, milled coinage, 1561-71, Shilling, 6.26g, small size, 29mm., m.m. star, crowned bust left with decorated dress, rev. shield over long cross fourchée (Borden and Brown 17 O1/R1; Shuttlewood 435; N.2023; S.2592), faint pitting behind bust and edge knock by DEVM, the only perceptible weakness being on a portion of the toothed border but barely detracting from this superb specimen which is essentially as struck with mirror fields, a pleasing old collection tone and a portrait of the highest quality, extremely fine and particularly appealing
