Hiberno-Norse Vikings, early period, 919-25, Penny, 1.04g, St Peter sword type, sciie / tpiio in two lines, divided by sword placed horizontally across field, pommel to the left, trefoil of annulets above legend and at tip of sword, letter i in legend represented by an inverted voided mallet, rev. +eboracnre, cross pattée with pellets in angles within inner circle (Blackburn II, p.38; N.555; S.1014), lighter tone on obverse, some ghosting, a well struck piece with appeal, nearly extremely fine
