Aethelstan (924-39), Penny, 1.34g, Circumscription cross type, York mint signed, Regnald, +eÐelstan rex to brt, cross pattée within inner circle, crescent and pellets in field, rev. regnald m¯o eforpc, l of moneyer's name an inverted t, cross pattée within inner circle (Blunt BNJ Vol.XLII, No 240; CTCE p.305; N.672; S.1093), c.20% flan loss possibly resulting from slight bend in flan, a couple of stress cracks apparent, the strike up to the usual high standard for these, nearly extremely fine, the obverse cross and pellets quite unusual
