Aethelstan (924-939), Penny, 1.18g, two line (HTQ1) type, Berntgar, small cross pattée within inner circle, rev. bernt / gar, divided by three small cross pattée, trefoil above, quatrefoil flanked by pellets below, t of moneyer's name engraved in half-size (N.668; S.1089), edge loss between 2 o'clock and 6 o'clock, mostly fresh metal, well struck and nearly extremely fine, the quatrefoil flanked by pellets appears to be previously unrecorded
