Auction: 144 - August Philatelic Collector's Series Sale
Lot: 428
#143LP10, Wells, Fargo & Co., Black Publishers' Newspaper stamp, two complete sheets of 50 showing the two different settings "A" and "B", these stamps were printed with each stamp being a stereotyped cliche identifiable by various type flaws, they were clamped into a form to make up the sheet, at some point the original setting was disassembled and the cliches moved around to make setting "B", both sheets have been folded horizontally and vertically which catches the edges of a few stamps due to the close spacing, setting "A" has original gum with a light interleaving adhering, small thin in top left stamp, setting "B" has original gum with h.r.'s in the four corner stamps, the rest are never hinged, both are attractive with very fine appearance; an excellent documentation of the printing of this issue; sheets are listed but unpriced in Scott, catalog is figured for ten blocks of four and five pairs for each sheet.
