1861 (24 Nov.) envelope (tear across flap) to Richmond, Melbourne, bearing 1862 2d. deep blue (3, margins in places, one defective at top) all cancelled "017" and with Dunedin c.d.s. (26.11) at lower left, the reverse with unframed Tuapeka (2), Melbourne (4.12) and Richmond (4.12) c.d.s. Photo

Note: The original Post Office opened in a tent at Gabriel's Gully on 15 May 161 under the name "Tuapeka". The office was supplied with numeral obliterator and datestamp in late 1861 or early 1862
