1861 (22 July) envelope from Dunedin to Mr. De Lacy (Gold Receiver) "Gabriel's Gully, Tuapeka", bearing 1857-63 2d. pale blue (margins on three sides, fault a right) cancelled "18" and with despatch c.d.s. at lower left, the letter apparently not reaching Mr. De Lacy, who was stationed in Dunedin, and with return Dunedin c.d.s. 99.8) on reverse; most unusual, being the sole recorded cover addressed to Gabriel's Gully. Note: Gold was first discovered in the Tuapeka Valley by Gabriel Read on 23 May 1861
