1865 (Mar.) envelope "via Marseilles" to England, bearing 1864-67 2d. pale blue Plate I (2, one with additional vertical row of perforations through design) and 6d. red-brown, all cancelled "0.32", the reverse with Dunedin (16.3), Manchester (15.5) and Ashton-Under-Lyne (15.5) c.d.s.; the envelope a little soiled and with flap faults though a most unusual franking. Note: Gold was found in quantity in the Karawau River. A Post Office was opened as Karawau Junction and to Kawarau on 1 November 1864
