1828 (12 March) a belated Valentine message, addressed to Miss C Corkram from George Norton, then Member of Parliament for Guildford, entire with red "Free" marking, enclosure with loving message and hand drawn cartoon of an Archer sending a message to Caroline; a few creases and wrinkles and the enclosure rejoined, but an unusual use of the Free franking privilege
Note: Caroline Elizabeth Sarah Norton (1808-1877), feminist, social reformer and author. Left her husband, George Norton, in 1836, following which her husband sued her close friend, Lord Melbourne, the then Prime Minister, for criminal conversation
