1818 (10 Feb.) entire letter to Deptford with very scarce red flat topped "3" and black "Two Py Poft/Unpaid/Deptford" handstamps; the entire letter with a handwritten Valentine message concluding ".... I would not have troubled you with this Valentine before the day arrived but knowing it was the custom of some people to return them I thought that you might be one of that number". A small portion of the address panel and most of the top flap missing, some strengthened splits and perimeter faults along the folds, nevertheless a scarce early use of a Valentine asking to be reciprocated
