1868 (10 Feb.) envelope to New York "Via Marseilles" bearing 48c. rose-carmine, 30c. vermilion and 6c. mauve (with right wing margin) cancelled by neat "B62" with rate marks "3/3" and "2" in red crayon, London Paid (23.3) and New York arrival (5.4) c.d.s. in red, the reverse with Hong Kong despatch and a good strike of "forwarded by/russell & co/hong kong" in black on the flap. A fresh and delightful three-colour franking and an intriguing rate which seems to be the double 42c. rate introduced after 2nd December 1870 due to the Franco-Prussian war. Photo
