1866 (15 Mar.) entire letter from Boston to Hong Kong "Via Marseilles" changed to "Suez", bearing France 80c. perforated Napoleon tied by "2248" gross chiffres with Marseilles despatch c.d.s. alongside with boxed "pd" in red, the reverse with a good strike of the large, boxed "forwarded/by/rabaud brothers & co/marseilles" in blue and Hong Kong arrival c.d.s. (21.7). The adhesive just overlaps the edge of the cover, but this barely detracts from an interesting cover carried privately from U.S.A. to France, where it was mailed. Photo
