1860 (18 Sept.) envelope to France "Via Suez et Marseilles" bearing Napoleon 40c. orange (mixed margins) tied by "cecb.cl" in lozenge of dots with a fine strike of "corps exp.chine/bau central" and boxed "pd" alongside, the reverse with French transit and arrival c.d.s. A good covers paying the 40c. rate for a 7½ gram prepaid officer's letter and carried from Shanghai on the "Cadiz". Also a cut into example of another 40c. with similar cancellation. Photo
