Richard III (1483-85), Halfpenny, 0.33g, London, m.m. boar's head, crowned bust facing, [ri]card di gra [rex] (Stewartby p.450; Withers 3a; N.1688; S.2170), an old field find which has since toned, boar's head mintmark still mostly visible as is a proportion of the regnal title, superb bust for issue, very fine for this, a very rare denomination for Richard III and a most distinctive 'scowling' portrait
