                        Richard III (1483-85), Penny, 0.54g, York under Archbishop Rotherham, m.m. boar's head 1/-, rev. quatrefoil on long cross, trefoil of pellets in angles (Stewartby p. 446; N.1686; S.2166), small flan as usual, weakness on key, nearly very fine for issue with an above average portrait of Richard III  
Stewartby p.382 notes; 'The flow of ill-struck and often illegible pence from the northern episcopal mints continued unabated. Thomas Rotherham of York was arrested by Richard in June 1483 but soon released.'
