Bruce Lee’s Kung Fu Shoes Walk in the footsteps of The Master... Captured in a number of famous photoshoots, these iconic Kung Fu shoes were often worn by Bruce at work and at play during the years of 1966-1968: the period during which he played Kato in U.S. network ABC’s iconic TV series, The Green Hornet (1966-1967). Featured in Movie Mirror’s ‘The Green Hornet’s Buzz Bomb’ article of October 1966, as well as in a number of famous and historic photographs taken by Doris Neave and Chester Maydole, these iconic Kung Fu shoes are now a widely documented part of Bruce Lee history. Fashioned in traditional Chinese style from dark blue cotton with stitched fabric soles and a padded foot bed, Bruce often trained in these shoes to improve his strength, reflexes and flexibility; thus developing the matchless martial arts skills that would one day propel him to international superstardom. He wore them a great deal during the period when he lived at Barrington Plaza in Los Angeles: a key development stage for his celebrated fighting art of Jeet Kune Do. Bruce wore these traditional Kung Fu out of respect for his martial arts heritage, which began with Wing Chun Grandmaster, Ip Man. Even though he had spent many years in the USA, China was still in his heart. Ex Taky Kimura
