1916 (1 Aug.) handwritten letter "Dictated" to Lloyd George on Admiralty Whitehall letterhead and signed "Arthur James Balfour". with two Civil Service endorsements at top. The contents refer to Lieutenant Commander J.B. Adams on his desire to return to sea service. Arthur Balfour was a former Prime Minister (1902-05) and was serving as First Lord of the Admiralty in the coalition government formed in May 1915, then in December 1916 he was Foreign Secretary in David Lloyd George's coalition government.
