Covers and Cancellations
1913 (18 Jan.) 2m. green stationery card, the senders details on reverse given as "Mohamed Tewfic El Habashi 1st. Comp. Equatorial Batt. E.A. Loka. Bahr El Gebel Sudan", from Rejaf to London, cancelled by fine c.d.s. with a further strike below and with Khartoum c.d.s. (2.2) at left and with manuscript arrival notation (31.2) at left; a scarce cancellation and most unusual in being underfranked without being surcharged, presumably in error. Photo
Note: Rejaf was known as Gondokoro and was ceded to Uganda until 1911. It was then returned to Sudanese control and renamed Rejaf, the previous Uganda Post Office being replaced by a Sudan Post Office. The Rejaf office was opened from 1911 until 1930, while no office existed at Loka until 1951 when a postal agency was opened briefly
