960 of these provisionals were made. The sheets were surcharged in rows of eight. Three rows (24 stamps) received the double surcharge, three having the "oie" [8] variety

[5-6], a superb pair on 1894 (9 Sept.) front registered to London, with a strip of three [6-8], [8] being the 1st state prior to the broken "n", and a single [1], all cancelled by violet c.d.s., fine. Very rare. S.G. 65/65a, £5000. Photo
