1879 (1 Sept.) opened-our envelope to Paris bearing Japan 1875 10s. bright blue, syllabic 4 (with lower sheet margin), tied by Fusan-po type DK c.d.s., without "Koog", with a second strike alongside. A fine array of transit marks and manuscript instructions including a superb strike of Nagasaki Japanese type c.d.s. (3.9), large Roman type (8.9), double-circle "i.j. postal agency/shanghai" (11.9), French "shang-hai/china" (12.9) and Brindisi packet c.d.s. in red (31.10). Small paper splits at each side of the central fold do not detract from this delightful and highly important cover. Although a second cover bearing a hand-etched stamp has been recorded (also to the French Legation in Paris) this is the only one cancelled by the type DK c.d.s. and is the earliest cover recorded from Pusan
