689 Paymaster Sergeant David Taylor, born Edinburgh, 1813; enlisted as Private in the 30th (Cambridgeshire) Foot, July 1832; transferred to the Royal Newfoundland Companies, October 1842; promoted Corporal, December 1843; Paymaster Sergeant, September 1849; discharged, December 1858, after 26 years and 140 days with the Colours.
