23rd Bombay Native Light Infantry
A very fine and rare example, the gilt back plate with silver and gilt mounts, comprising a multi-rayed facetted star overlaid with gilt crowned laurels enclosing a circle 'Native Infantry Regiment', in the centre 'XXIII' on a domed ground, below the laurels the honour 'Kirkee' over a strung bugle horn, complete with original leather liner, this with ink inscription 'Bombay 23rd Native Infantry', c.1842-1855, excellent condition
