A fine quality example the silver plated back plate with silver and gilt mounts, comprising a multi-rayed facetted star overlaid with a gilt crowned circular Garter Proper, red enamelled cross of St. George in the centre, below a floreate scroll 'Leicester', complete with the original leather liner, this with ink inscription 'Leicestershire Militia Presented by Capn. Chapman', c.1840-1855, a single chip to the red enamel cross otherwise excellent condition
