North Durham Militia
A very fine and rare example silver plated back plate bearing gilt and silver mounts, comprising the crown over a rococo shield showing the arms of the City of Durham, the cross lined with red velvet and the quarters with black velvet, an ornate tri-part scroll below, 'North Durham Militia', 1853-1855, the velvets on the shield with age wear otherwise very fine condition

The regiment was raised in 1853 so this is the only pattern of plate worn by the Officers.
