A fine quality example the gilt grained back plate with silver mounts, comprising a large coiled bugle horn with the numerals '71' lodged within the coil, complete with original leather liner, this with ink inscription 'Presented by Captn. Colvill 71st. Regt', c.1840-1881, the top left hand corner with a slight buckle otherwise very fine condition

Captain Thomas H. Colvill, Commissioned Ensign, 71st Foot, May 1835; promoted Lieutenant, December 1837; Captain, April 1844; retired, 1853.
