26th (Cameronians) Regiment of Foot
An extremely fine example the gilt back plate with silver and gilt mounts, comprising a large silver mullet part overlaid with gilt mounts the crown, laurel sprays, Sphinx/Egypt, in the centre a circle 'Cameronians' enclosing the numerals '26' (silver) at the bottom above and below the junction of the laurels two scrolls 'Corunna' and 'China', below the latter the Royal Dragon of China, complete with original leather liner, c.1843-1855 (Parkyn 224), excellent condition
