QueenslandThe Chalon IssuesRegistered Mail - New South Wales Combination Period1860 (9 Nov.) envelope from Rockhampton to The Surveyor General, Brisbane, bearing 1860 clean-cut perf. 14 to 16d. 1d. carmine horizontal pair in combination with New South Wales 1860 perf. 12 Registered 6d., between them sharing a single wavy-line pen stroke, apparently applied because the allocated numeral obliterator was not yet in regular use, showing despatch c.d.s. alongside manuscript "335" at left and with arrival c.d.s. (14.11) on reverse; the right-hand 1d. lifted to reveal watermark, the envelope a little soiled, nevertheless a very rare "combination period" franking which was in use for only some ten weeks.
