Cayman Islands The John Byl Collection 1908 (May-Oct.) Manuscript Provisionals During May and October 1908 supplies of the 1/2d. and 1d. stamps became exhausted. Covers were franked in manuscript and initialled by the Postmistress, Miss G.A. Parsons, or by the Postmaster, W.G. McCausland, who succeeded her in June 1908. The following section offers the most comprehensive group of these provisionals ever to appear at auction Endorsements in use from 4 to 27 October Type 3: 1908 (7 Oct.) picture postcard to Miss Edna Lyon at Boddentown, endorsed "Paid" in blue crayon and over-cancelled with Georgetown c.d.s.; the picture side with some minor surface faults though the unique example of this manuscript provisional and one of the key items of Cayman Islands philately.
