Cayman Islands The John Byl Collection 1908 (May-Oct.) Manuscript Provisionals During May and October 1908 supplies of the 1/2d. and 1d. stamps became exhausted. Covers were franked in manuscript and initialled by the Postmistress, Miss G.A. Parsons, or by the Postmaster, W.G. McCausland, who succeeded her in June 1908. The following section offers the most comprehensive group of these provisionals ever to appear at auction Endorsements in use from 4 to 27 October Type 2b: 1908 6 (Oct.) unsealed envelope addressed locally to Georgetown "G C", endorsed "Pd 1/4d W.G. McC" in one line in brownish ink with Georgetown c.d.s. below. Very rare with only four examples recorded, two of which appear in one line. S.G. MP2b, £2,000.
