Cayman Islands The John Byl Collection Jamaica Used In Cayman Islands "grand cayman/post office" oval datestamp in violet (Type 1) Covers The earliest recorded cover bearing Jamaican adhesives used in the Cayman Islands 1891 (28 Dec.) envelope to A.J. Roberts c/o H.B. Hitchins (the forwarding agent for Caymans mail in Jamaica) to Kingston, Jamaica, bearing 1/2d. green horizontal pair sharing a fine strike of the oval datestamp, the reverse showing sender´s dated cachet of F.N. Lambert & Co. (Georgetown law firm) in bright blue, Montego Bay (4.1) and Kingston (5.1) squared-circle datestamps with manuscript "Got a little leather to make straps for chronometer boxes"; a few small faults in places though very rare, being one of only five outgoing covers with this datestamp.
