Ireland, Charles II (1645-85), St. Patrick ´Farthing´, variety with no c in quiescat, 5.40g, (cf. S.6569, the error legend not listed), most of the brass plug removed, the edge smoothed with traces of reeding visible, good fine, the rare variety with the error in the reverse legend Estimate £ 4,000-6,000 In about 1680-81 a large quantity of these tokens were taken to the State of New Jersey by an emigrant named Mark Newby. They were made legal tender by the General Assembly of New Jersey in May 1682.
