The Profile Head 1912-24 Watermark Royal Cypher One Penny Perforated Colour Trials, 1912 The following eight lots comprise a lower right corner block of twelve (6x2), unless otherwise stated, with Control "C/X 8/12" in the lower margin, together with a 1d. stamp of King Edward VII which was left imperforate. All are on gummed watermark paper In rose-red, a block of twenty-four (12x2) being the bottom two rows of a sheet and, on reverse, each handstamped "Colour trial E", the face of bottom selvedge with printed "M/B Scarlet/25602" and Stamping Department d.s. in violet for 6 September 1912 at left, and marked "Colour selected for new design by His Majesty"; heavy central vertical crease and another one at right.
