Great Britain Postal History A Selection of Poignant Entires and Letters 1842 Diary of Mr. Thomas Day at Dublin, half calf leather bound with brass clasp and key, chronicling his life, with numerous items of contemporary interest affixed within, including calling cards, newspaper reports, Valentines, cheques, share certificates, a silhouette, an 1840 auction catalogue and, most significantly, a comprehensive exemplification of the introduction of Postage Stamps and postal stationery, with 10th. January 1840 Post Office rates, Penny Black, Penny Red, Two Pence Blue, together with the fronts of a Mulready, two Spooner caricatures and an embossed Penny Pink envelope, all addressed to the writer. In all four pages relating to the Post, Other fascinating contents including the death of King George III, the death of Napoleon, French revolution, Haley´s comet, etc., a true panorama of the era.
